"INTENS" begins with an uncommon -time groove (in10/4 ) played on a kalimba and a plucky keyboard. The serene and exotic opening suggests a warm, dusky night. This is swiftly broken by a menacing, odd-metered transition. Discordant piano chords and a string sextet build a sense
of foreboding, to a musical abyss, giving way to Kramer's post swing piano solo, the jazz-oriented footbridge to a texture, Samuel's mesmerizing solo rooted in subtle Arabic influences. One last improvisation by Mark mimicking rapid vocalese. The closing orchestration restates the opening , but the feeling of falling transforms to weightless floating, tethered only by Seans surreal but brief solo tabla.
