This, like vol.2 above, is a live open stereo mic trio recording at Hong Kong Fusion (Peter's Palace) in 2014. The performance, though billed and charged as a concert, occurred prior to the room's conversion to a paid concert venue (as recorded open mic on volume 2). Despite most of the music being presentable, the audience noise on this first night was typical of a restaurant gig and was thus intolerable. The chatter remained despite an attempt to digitally filter it out. {As an aside, such attempts are rarely productive, and almost always result in considerable sonic artifacts.] Additionally, Mark's involuntary scatting, as well as his verbal direction to the trio, were inadvertently recorded loudly. Who knows? This may be a plus for some!

This volume is included here mostly to complete the unusual archived record of this series; it is thus heavily discounted re the above-mentioned irregularities. It should be instructive to all musicians seeking to document their work. Restaurant/club audiences cannot possibly appreciate the disastrous effect of chatter on recordings. This is evident compared with all subsequent recordings. The latter, except for volume 2 are all multi-tracked in a relatively quiet room, achieve CD quality in every respect. This volume clearly does not fit that standard and is thus quite annoying as well as embarrassing. Musically there are however several tracks that may not be included elsewhere and are also worthy of the archiving: Senza Fine, La Comparsa, Dos Gardenias and others. ,
